In short

By default Eterna works entirely on your computer and sends nothing anywhere. Only if you choose to use its optional cloud AI (see below) is the text you are checking sent to be analysed, and it is never stored. Your results and progress always stay on your computer.

What Eterna reads

While you write in a text box on supported websites (for example Gmail, Outlook, WhatsApp Web, LinkedIn, Slack, Notion, Teams, or any website if you choose "Every website"), Eterna checks the text on your computer to spot phrases linked to patterns such as overgiving or perfectionism. The text is analysed on the spot and is not stored or transmitted.

On meeting and job websites, Eterna only checks the page address to show a short tip. It does not read the page content.

What Eterna stores, on your computer only

• Your diagnosis results and the pattern you chose to focus on.
• Your progress: points, predictions you tapped and their outcomes, your belief ratings, and short notes you choose to write.
• Only the short phrase that was flagged (for example "pay me whenever"), never the full message.
• Your settings (language, times for reminders).

This data is kept in your browser's extension storage. It is removed if you uninstall Eterna or use "Redo the diagnosis".

On-device AI

On computers that support it, Eterna can use Chrome's built-in AI. That model runs on your device: the text does not leave your computer.

Optional cloud AI

Two features use Eterna's AI service, and only when you choose them: "Smart detection (cloud AI)" in Settings (off by default), and analysing a meeting ("Check a meeting" in Eterna, or "Analyse with Eterna" on a Granola notes page, only when you press it). The text being checked, plus the name you enter, is sent over an encrypted connection to Eterna's service on Cloudflare, analysed by an open AI model on Cloudflare Workers AI, and the answer is sent back. Eterna keeps no copy: no database, no logs of the text. Cloudflare processes the request under its own privacy policy and does not use it to train models. Only analyse meetings when the people in them are happy for you to do so.

Exporting and feedback

"Export my data" saves a file to your computer. Nothing is sent unless you decide to share that file. "Send feedback" opens your own email app; you decide what to send.

What we never do

• We don't sell, rent or share your data.
• We don't use your data for advertising or creditworthiness.
• We don't track you across websites.

Not therapy

Eterna is a personal growth tool based on schema therapy concepts and research on how beliefs change. It is not a medical or psychological treatment.
